Nickelback

Nickelback is a Canadian band labelled as a hard rock/post-grunge band formed by Chad Kroeger (guitar & vocals), Ryan Peake (guitar & vocals), Mike Kroeger (bass) and Daniel Adair (drums). Their last album "All The Right Reasons" was released in October 2005. It came into my attention the fact that there was an advert on TV showing the beauty of our islands, beaches and surf (viva Canarias!) with the track "Animals" in the background. At that moment I didn't know it was this track, but the guitar riffs and the vocals sounded familiar. After getting the album, I checked out all the tracks, and my guess was right, it was a Nickelback song!

The album in general is not very innovative, compared to their third 2001 hit album "Silver Side Up". The songs are quite similar and the vocals haven't changed very much, but still it has some catchy tunes and their melodies stick easily into the listener. According to their website, "Animals' is about a nice girl and a bad boy who get caught in the act by the girl's dad". Other songs have their stories too, such as "Photograph", a glimpse back at Kroeger's teenage years; "Savin' Me" addresses a man in prison who wants to be saved and a fallen angel who must return to earth to be forgiven for his sins, and the aggresive "Side of a Bullet", a song dedicated to former Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell (R.I.P.), including some guitar outtakes from Dime that finally conform the solo of the track.

Here is a video from Nickelback, performing "Animals", live. Enjoy:

Death Note

Well, quite a long time since my last post. Many things have happened, but right now I have moved to my new flat, and last week got internet as well ;) This post is about the anime Death Note. It was so interesting that I couldn't stop watching one episode after the other. Last Saturday night I watched the 17 episodes I had left :P

Here I am posting the second intro and ending of the episodes. Anime is well known for using rock-type songs for their intros and endings, electric guitars and stuff, but these are quite hardcore songs. Enjoy the music and illustrations as well!
